We just finished another wonderful mass at Holy Angels. The closing song was a heartfelt “America the Beautiful” that brought tears to my eyes. Leaving church, warm sun shining, flags everywhere, I am so thankful to the men and women who serve in the arm forces. Men like Dad and Uncle Lou who were in during Korea and WWII. Men like my nephews Daniel and Matt who are bravely serving today. And my heart goes out to my former colleague, Doreen, whose son made the ultimate sacrifice for our country this past Thursday. He told his mom before he went on his tour that, should he die, she couldn’t be mad because he would’ve died doing something he loved. Say a prayer for Doreen that she can keep that promise in the weeks to come. Pray for the other sons and daughters out there keeping us free. And pray for more warm, sunny days with the stars and stripes waving in the breeze.
