A little r & r

Since I’ve been young, I’ve always wanted to spend a weekend at Chautauqua Institute with my family. Now, that would seem like an easy vacation dream to do considering I grew up around here, but that’d been the problem. Why spend money up here when my childhood home is just down the road? And how could I  convince other family members to do the same?

Well, this weekend the dream is happening. My mom’s siblings get together once a year for a reunion. This was her year to plan, so mom decided that renting out the Maple Inn in Chautauqua for all to stay together would be ideal. I’m in heaven!

We brought scooters, so the girls have enjoyed exploring the quiet streets on those. We’ve put our feet in the cool lake water and gave a “performance” on the amphitheater stage- the same stage that world leaders, musicians and famous authors have graced. It’s been a much needed break with family. I wish it could last forever.
