Welcoming them back

The girls had been with their Dad all last week, so we were looking forward to having them back in the house.  Curtis and I had been talking for weeks about how we would tell them the big surprise we had for them. We finally decided on an “Adventure Hunt” with clues that would take them to the places on the farm they love, in case the “forgot” after a week away.

I spent about an hour coming up with the clues, putting them together and setting them up around the farm. The clues led them to the basement, their room, the tractor, barn, garden (where they needed to help plant some veggie plants) and our screened porch. Each clue had a letter spelling out the part of the surprise. The girls really enjoyed it – Madeline even talked about how much fun she was having while traveling to one of the clues.

I’ll be honest with you, the big reveal wasn’t as crazy as I thought it might be – I think because of the previous bean spilling and maybe because the “processing time” that sometimes they need. In any event, we were glad to get the secret out and by the time they were in their PJ’s, they were talking up a storm about it.

Now, when I did the clues for the girls I jumbled up the letters but I made it easy for you in case you didn’t know what our surprise for them was:

Janice, Curtis and the girls - you just got through moving and a wedding. What will you do next? WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!
